“Something is formed in the chaos, which existed before heaven and earth.

It is quiet and profound.

It stands alone and alters not.

It revolves eternally without exhaustion.

It is regarded as the Mother of all beings.

I do not know Its name, except to call It Tao.

When forced to give It a name, I would call It “the Great.”

The Great is far-reaching.

Far-reaching is infinite.

Infinite is to return to the self-sufficient origin.

Therefore, Tao is great, heaven is great, earth is great, and so is the true-self.

There are four greatness in the universe, and true-self is one of them.

Man models the Way of earth;

Earth models the Way of heaven;

Heaven models the Way of Tao;

Tao models the Way of nature.”

Lao Tsu, Tao Te Ching Chapter Twenty-five

Oriental Medicine Concepts  - The Big Picture

Aromancy is a guide to a better life.  The purpose of life is to know where, who, what, why and how you are, and to be happy and content. Aromancy utilizes principles, concepts, and vocabulary of Traditional Oriental Medicine, which is based on the Taoist view of the universe. The most important of these is the theory of Yin and Yang and Five Elements. These two are essential in understanding and diagnosing any issue that we focus on to solve during Aromancy session.

Thousands of years ago there lived sages who meditated on the Universe. From their quiet space up in the mountain, they observed the law of nature. Their views became the foundation of Taoism, which encompasses religious ceremonies, divination forms such as I Ching, astrology, creative arts such as poetry, music, dance, and calligraphy, martial arts such as the Tai Chi and Qi gong, and healing practices such as acupuncture and herbal medicine.

Tao (written in Chinese 道) means “Way” or “Path”. 道教/Taoism is the teaching of a virtuous life, and successful life depends on harmonious coexistence with one’s environment. As in any journey, there are ups and downs in life, but the key is to stay in balance.

Taoists view the universe as a whole that is made up of many ones, which is a universe on its own.  This is the concept of Microcosm and Macrocosm. Everything is interrelated. You and your neighbours, animals and plants, a country, the planet, the stars, and the galaxy. All exists for, and because of you.

The universe of Aromancy is the collection of aromatic plant spirits. Men are not only related to the plant world, but are born of the same origin with the same goal; manifesting our highest potential on earth.

Tao has an idea of the multi-dimensional bodies. When we look at ourselves as a form of energy, it is hard to deny that the physical body is nothing but one form of manifestation. Another form of body, there are Emotional, Mental, Spiritual, Causal bodies and so on, may not be visible, but can not be ignored. A disease manifested on the physical body may have originated in the other bodies mentioned. Oriental Medicine treatment protocol not only address the symptom but in diagnose, always look for the root cause.

Many information is available for the use of essential oils against physical ailments, and learning Aromancy allows you to choose the right essential oils for a particular condition. However, Aromancy taps into the intelligence of plants beyond what is revealed and believed by science - the heart of plants’ life force that is often unexplainable, or is better left unexplained.

The ultimate goal in life is to realise and stay in the nature of balance over health and disease. Nature is in a state of constant flux and change. There is virtually no static balance point to be found. Also, there is also no absolute in anything, as things are mostly relative. Life is best lived when at ease; like water, taking the path of least resistance.
